Dear friends,
I am writing on behalf of the Interfaith Center (TIC) at Miami University, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to unify people through relationship-building, dialogue, and social action. We are grateful for your historic generosity in support of the Interfaith Center’s mission and programming, and we hope to sustain this relationship with our donors moving forward into 2026. This has been a very financially challenging year for the Center, as city-mandated restorations to our beloved historic building in Oxford consumed 70% of our annual operating budget. This has made it very difficult to sustain daily operations and to ensure payment of staff.
We know these hardships are not unique to our Center, and that within the interfaith movement at-large we collectively struggle not only financially, but also to navigate the ongoing political and religious tensions within our global society and express our solidarity with those within our communities facing marginalization. We hope that our regularly scheduled virtual and in-person offerings have helped to create space for difficult conversations, to restore faith in our common humanity, and to draw upon the wisdom of our many religious, spiritual, and secular traditions to carve a path towards a better future. Our Center remains committed to confronting difficult issues like the recent rise in Antisemitism and Islamophobia, facilitating interfaith dialogue around Israel-Palestine, engaging the intersectionality between faith and various social and political issues (e.g., LGBTQ+ inclusion in faith spaces, gun violence, abortion, death penalty abolition, election ethics, etc.) and cultivating opportunities to explore art and religious practices as modes of collective spiritual engagement.
We believe that interfaith cooperation is not only necessary, but imminent, if we hope to build a more just and equitable world for all people. However, we must also acknowledge our own limitations as a small nonprofit. We humbly ask for your continued financial support and generosity so we can further our mission of positive change, maintain the health and sustainability of our organization, and ensure the preservation of our historic building in Oxford.
With gratitude and service,
Dr. Geneva Blackmer
