Dr. Kimberly Hamlin is an amazing scholar of women’s history at Miami University with a focus on reproductive rights. She will help us to stay informed on the Roe v. Wade decision and impact, while providing a historical context on women's rights. A light lunch will be served.

Join us for the first in a series on Family, Religion, and Well-Being: A Look at Women and Sexuality Across Selected Religions. For this series, Dr. Kimberly Hamlin will be sharing her research on the history of women's rights and helping us to stay informed of Roe v. Wade and the implications and impact it has. Dr. Hamlin’s research focuses on the histories of women’s rights, women’s political activism, and the cultural construction of ideas about gender and sex. Her next book project will provide a new history of the temperance movement, centering sex and sexually transmitted disease.She is also working on a longer project about syphilis in the nineteenth century. Dr. Hamlin frequently contributes to the Washington Post and other popular media. She is also a Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians.
